Meet SMART
SMART Animal Sanctuary & Rehoming Centre was established in 2003 and has grown from helping around 35 dogs in its first year to rehoming up to 500 domestic and farm animals every year.
Based in the Snowy Mountains of NSW, SMART rescues animals from country pounds, including dogs and cats at risk of euthanasia. They also take in surrendered animals and farm animals when they have the space.
Their commitment is simple: give animals a safe place to stay until they find a loving home.
There are no time limits. Animals receive veterinary care, food, shelter, vaccinations, desexing, microchipping and plenty of patience and love while they wait for their next chapter.
And if a forever home can’t be found, SMART continues to care for them at the sanctuary or through permanent foster care.
